This notice explains what personal information Top Trades Glasgow ("we", "us") collects through toptradesglasgow.co.uk, why we use it, and the choices you have. We are the controller of this information under the UK General Data Protection Regulation and the Data Protection Act 2018.
What we collect
When you contact us or ask to be assessed
Our contact and assessment forms collect the details you type in, such as your name, email address, phone number, business name, website, registration numbers and your message. We use this information only to reply to you and, for assessment requests, to assess your business for our tables.
When you browse the site
We do not use analytics, advertising or tracking cookies, and we do not set cookies of our own. Like any website, our hosting provider may keep short-lived server logs, including IP addresses, to keep the site secure and working.
Information about the businesses we rank
Our tables use information that businesses have made public, such as business names, addresses, ratings and review counts, trade registrations and Companies House records. Where a sole trader or partnership trades under a person's name, or a public profile names the owner, that can include a person's name.
Why we can use it
- Messages and assessment requests: our legitimate interest in replying to you and assessing businesses that ask us to, and, for assessment requests, steps you ask us to take.
- Information about ranked businesses: our legitimate interest, and the public's, in independent information about local tradespeople, based on information that is already public.
- Server logs: our legitimate interest in keeping the site secure.
Who we share it with
- Web3Forms, which processes form submissions and delivers them to us by email. Web3Forms does not use your details for its own purposes.
- Google Fonts, which serves the typefaces on this site. Your browser requests the fonts from Google, which means Google receives your IP address.
- Our hosting and email providers, who store data on our behalf.
Some of these providers may process data outside the UK. Where they do, they rely on safeguards recognised under UK data protection law. We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for marketing.
How long we keep it
We keep messages and assessment requests for as long as we need to deal with them, and for no more than two years after our last contact with you. Information about ranked businesses is kept while it appears on the site, and in our research notes for up to two years after it is removed, so we can answer questions about past editions.
Your rights
You have the right to ask for a copy of your information, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to have it transferred. If you run a business we rank, you can object to the use of your personal details, and we will consider any request alongside the public interest in the information. To use any of these rights, contact us.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk (opens in a new tab). We would appreciate the chance to put things right first.
Changes to this notice
We will update this page if anything changes and show the date at the top.
